Folks have offered a number of different proposals on how to simplify our tax code. One thing is for sure, it is absolutely critical that this happens. There’s no quicker way to kill an economy than taking money from families and businesses in ambiguous ways. According to the Tax Foundation, Americans spent $244.3 billion just complying with the Federal income tax in 2007, and that number is only expected to get worse – unless we send people like John Fleming to Washington.

John Fleming has identified and studied a particular proposal – the Fair Tax – that would simplify our tax code, save families billions of dollars, and increase government revenue. What does Paul Carmouche say about tax reform? He says he’ll “look for opportunities” to make the tax system fairer. Come on! The opportunities are already there. You just have to act! Maybe tax reform isn’t that important to Mr. Carmouche.

We don’t need any more politicians who will simply ”look for opportunities” to solve some of our nation’s biggest problems. Washington needs leaders who are ready to take action, who are prepared to make tough decisions the day they are elected to office.

I’d advise Paul Carmouche to do his homework.
